THOSE WERE THE DAYS
19th March 2005
Isthmian League (Ryman) Premier Division
HRBFC 1 (Lewington) Hendon 0 Att; 240
Kieron Drake; Graham Harper, Dean Wells, Craig Lewington, Matt Elverson, Orlando Jeffrey, Alan Inns, Elliott Godfrey (Steve Omonua, 85’), Luke Fontana (Richard Pacquette,69’), Ryan Ashe (Dudley Gardner,76’), Obinna Ulasi.
Unused Subs; Henry Cook, Tom Crossland
Lewington certainly had a game to remember for the Beavers against Hendon at Beveree. 23rd birthday, a blooded face, a booking and the only goal of the game that kept Hampton in the chase for a promotion play-off place. Selection problems aplenty for Manager, Alan Devonshire; Adrian Allen and Marcello Fernandes injured, Andy Morley suspended, were partly resolved by giving Pacquette a debut, and giving Ulasi a run up front. A goalless first half ensued, Harper, Inns, Jeffrey and Ashe would all miss the target during the match. Drake, for Hampton, twice denied Ross Pickett. Playing with a cut mouth, received in an earlier incident, Lewington provided the only goal in the 69th minute, denying Hendon the point that they probably deserved.
