I see that Farnborough have a similar problem to us with only four out of 12 pens scored this season. If we get one tonight against Cheshunt who takes it?

Me!!!!

Seriously Alan Julian - why not? As long as he can convert its not a problem, you see goalkeepers are really great in deadball situations and they practise all the time goal kicks etc, so think this is a perfect choice!

You probably have a very good point about the deadball kicking skills but there'd be a bit of an undignified scramble back to his own goalmouth if he missed... is he a fast runner??

If Ru is on the pitch then he should take them. We just need to stop changing the taker each penalty, trust one player and even if he misses a few stick with him.

I tend to agree with the theory that one player, even if he misses, should be given the opportunity to take the next one. If this player has performed best in practice then give him the chance to redeem himself.
I remember a FA Cup game many years ago, I think against Wembley where we missed three penalties, all taken by a different player (Wintle, Merry and ? Aldridge) . The consensus at that time was if one player had taken them all , that he would have converted one.

How many extra league points (9 ?) would we have if we had converted all relevant penalties ?

I make it 8 points ( +2 Bath 1-1, Wood missed; Worthing +3, 0-0, Vincent missed; Tonbridge 0-1 +3, Clifton and Wishart missed). That would have put us 14th on 46 points.

The game doesn't stop if they score the penalty. Nothing to say it would then be the final score.

Get Matt Lovett in to do training sessions, he used to smash them in during shoot outs.

Of course scoring the missed penalties may have turned the game in an entirely different direction. You could just as easily point to a missed shot, an unlucky deflection or a wrongly given offside. But more likely to turn a game in our favour I would think.

Think we missed one against Oxford City as well to make it 2-0. We missed and they went up the other end, made it 1-1 and that's how it finished.

Correct it was Deadfield who missed. We would be safe by now!
