THOSE WERE THE DAYS
March 12th 1977

Middlesex Senior Cup Semi-Final
Hampton 3 Wealdstone 2
Rowbottom 2, Haig

Alan Cooling; Alan Earl, Alan Ward, Alec MacFarlane, Kevin Sheehan, Ian Rae, Joe Fascione, Andy Haigh, Alan Rowbottom, Tony Coppin, Trevor Waughman.
Subs; Peter Jeffries & David Blackmore.
Hampton went ahead in the first minute when a towering clearance by Cooling was allowed to bounce before Rowbottom headed over keeper, Lightfoot. Haigh made it 2-0 in 14 minutes as he poked in a rebound and then in the 39th minute another towering kick from Cooling flummoxed the Wealdstone defenders and Rowbottom was in for his second, and Hampton’s third. Wealdstone eventually responded with goals in the 79th & 90th minutes to add some respectability to the scoreline.

Happy birthday Les.I was only 7 at the time but am I right in thinking Sheehan and Rae were the centre backs at the time.Sheehan was the captain and I think Rae has short ginger hair?

Correct, both very good players in their time.
