Reading the report it seems our visitors got both their goals late on. Could not make its tonight, so looking forward to others views.

And the first was offside! I was right in line and the lino 20 yards behind play.

Some encouraging performances last night and much improved attacking play in the first half. Ilic and Barzey caught the eye but defence also very sound and Fernandez a threat at set pieces. You have to remember U23 sides are technically proficient but sometimes lack the physical strength of our league so we shouldn’t read too much into the victory. Second half Shokunbi was the standout player making powerful runs forward but we created fewer chances. If I were to pick our league starting XI from what I have seen so far it would be Julian, Block, Inman, Fernandez, Donaldson; Ilic, Barzey, Shokunbi, Gray, Whittingham; Wood. That leaves out TMR which may be harsh as captain but real competition for midfield places which is good. Iontton isn’t far behind either. We do need an alternative for Wood with more experience than current trialists I think. Gary is clearly still looking for more players.
