Oxford City at Home on Saturday. They Beat Havant 3.1 at Home last Saturday. Lost 1.0 away at Dorking Tuesday. This will be a tough match as Oxford are 4th top in the league. A hard fought draw IMO :geek:

Based on last evening’s performance and a run of poor results, you might be optimistic to think of a draw. However football is never that predictable and hopefully we might have at least two new players. Admittedly they might take a bit of time to settle in, but who knows, team selection may play an important part.
Let’s wait till later in the week to see what we feel the game’s outcome might be.

Oxford are near the top of the league and so it will be a difficult game. Hopefully Roberts will give us more goal threat especially as it will be against his old club. Think some of the loans could be finished after today. We still need some fresh faces, let’s hope Gary can do it. A draw might be all we can hope for?

Which loans finish after today?..cant do without Robinson and Block makes us a lot better..Hamblin, though clearly talented, is physically struggling with the Conf south and to be honest it is bizarre Farrell has been stuck on the bench..Dronfield is decent too and need him to stay

Another home defeat. Well that was dreadful. Apart from the first 20 mins or so when we looked a bit more competitive, this was surely as bad as it's got this season. Donaldson was badly missed after he went off injured, and Roberts must be wondering what he's let himself in for. Although clearly a decent player, he looks like he's lacking a bit of sharpness but he had no service whatsoever, which became even more apparent as the game went on. Where on earth do we go from here?

Oxford a good side. Sad to watch a poor Hampton side. Try and stay up and let Gary re group for next season.

Good to see David Amate make his debut. Well done David.

Thought the first half was pretty even and competitive despite us having to rejig when Donaldson went off injured. McKnight came closest with a header that clipped the bar, otherwise limited chances for either side. Roberts looked hungry and saw plenty of the ball. Second half was a different story as Oxford upped the pace and came out clear winners. Deadfield missed a penalty which could have given hope at 0-2 but not many other opportunities. All Oxford’s goals felt a bit soft: a loose ball from a free kick, a debatable penalty and an error by Inman. The thinness of the squad was very evident with Block having to switch to centre back and Academy player David Amate filling in at right back. Miller Rodney was emergency left back with Hamblin, Farrell and now Donaldson all injured. Uche was on the bench but could not have been fit. Dunne is yet to start and this suggests the manager is not sure about him and would not be surprised if he looks elsewhere.

Now 10 defeats in 13 games which is not pointing at the play offs. Accepted that we are rebuilding but hard to see what the plan is with so many loan players who could be recalled. Feels like there will be a full rebuild in the summer.

Thank goodness the chance of relegation is so slim this season.

After such a poor performance in the second half, it is worrying that we are going backwards as a club. I did feel that towards the end of the game that chins dropped and the final goal was a catalogue of errors. Oxford did a professional job on us, they targeted Amate in the second half and pressured him into a penalty error. They delayed our penalty which worked in their
favour.
Gary talks about building for next year, there is a lot of work to do. Think he wants some loans to become permanent, at present not sure who I would be that happy with, Roberts may settle in and might fulfill a role, it would then depend on who plays alongside him and our formation.
We need experience defenders now, too many attacks consist of a long ball which at best is 50/50 . Hopefully we will stave off relegation.

Only last place goes down. I suspect we already have enough points to avoid that.
