THOSE WERE THE DAYS
28th February 2015
Isthmian (Ryman) League Premier Division
VCD Athletic 2 HRBFC 1 (Jelley) Att; 104
HRBFC;-
Mark Smith; Marcus Johnson-Schuster (Paris Mason, 79’), Mark Oneyman, Kieran Murphy, Franz Ngassa, Kevant Serbony, Tom Jelley, Jake Rose (Ben Osman, 70’), Jamie Calvin (Tom Collins, 69’), Charie Moone, George Wells.
Unused Subs;- James Richmond, Jamie Simmonds
Hampton’s second visit of the season to VCD ended in another defeat, however unlike the F A Cup loss (3-2) in September it did not result in the resignation of the club’s management team – the only players left from that first game were Moone, Wells and Mason, such was the turnover of players in that strange season. The Beavers created a number of chances before Calvin’s pass put Jelley in with an opportunity to score in the 29th minute, making the finish look easy as he slotted the ball past Nick Blue. Hampton keeper, Smith, only had one real save to make in the first half. The visitors should have gone 2-0 up just before half-time but Murphy’s header was cleared off the line with the keeper stranded. VCD equalised in the 58th minute when Lea Dawson followed in on a rebound. In the 90th minute after VCD had lived dangerously they snatched a late winner through Dawson.
