My bus predicts a strong possibility of a frozen pitch. Seriously I hope not!

Very cold and frozen in TW12 this morning. Everyone knows that the Simpson Stand end struggles to get sun on it during the winter months so if left to the elements it may not fully defrost. 50 / 50 I'd say looking at the forecast.

We need a pitch inspection today to stop them traveling. 552 mile round trip. Then back again Tuesday.

Surely we're allowed to have an inspection today? It's a very long way indeed from Spennymoor...

It would be very sensible to have an inspection today as we know from past experience that certain parts of the pitch take a long time to thaw out. We don’t want to be responsible for additional travelling costs if can be avoided.

The club have reported that the visitors have set off on their journey but no mention of a pitch inspection.
It was a bit of a strange "Breaking News" post from the club (our opponents have left home...). I agree they could have commented on the state of and prospects for the pitch. Maybe after posting that the pitch on Wednesday was looking great, it's a case of once bitten, twice shy.EastTerracer wrote: Fri Jan 03, 2025 2:37 pm The club have reported that the visitors have set off on their journey but no mention of a pitch inspection.
Looks like the referee tomorrow is Robert Massey-Ellis from Coventry so has some travelling to do before he can do a pitch inspection. FA Trophy rules seem to allow another (local) referee appointed by the FA to do an inspection if we have doubts but I guess that probably could not be until Saturday.

That referee is married to the first woman to run the line in the premier league
Her name is Sian.
I believe she was the one who cost Andy Gray and Richard Keys their punditry jobs because of the sexist comments they made towards her!

Just been out walking in Carlisle park near the ground. The ground is frozen solid. More frost forecast tonight. Simpson end strikes again i think.
