This Saturday, before the game against Cheshunt, members of Hampton Mission Partnership will be bringing some Christmas spirit by singing carols. They will be taking a bucket collection in aid of The Extra Mile, which is a local run charity for families who find it hard to make ends met. Here is some info about their work.
The Extra Mile is a local run charity, based at Hampton Mission Partnership, in Percy Road. This was founded 6 years ago by a small group of 3 of volunteers. Initially it was set up to support families with children from 3 months up to 5 years. We actually support children of any age providing them with clothing, books, toys, toiletries as well as cots, buggies, prams, highchairs, play mats. Since starting we have helped over 3000 children.
Every year we provide Christmas presents for families that are referred to us - this year will be giving around 800 presents .
The families we support are referred to us by Health Care professionals who collect from us when the items are ready. We now serve a wide area that includes Surrey, Kingston, Hounslow, Richmond and Spelthorne boroughs.
