There isn't much chatter on here about tonight's big game... it's almost as if nobody is excited about the Middlesex Senior Cup 2nd round on a December Tuesday at 3'c with an academy squad
Will Barzey get another 15 minutes?
Will the attendance make three figures?
Will Wassmer get sent off for a two-footer on Deadfield?
With Barnet already out (thanks Southall), and Wealdstone playing Brentford B this round, will Hampton win it this season?
There are many questions to be discussed.

Will be a chance for Gary to get minutes into some senior players too, so expect Ahmidi, Barzey, Jenkins and maybe a couple others to play
Saturday we will probably hear from Gary that all those players are now injured and that our pitch is at fault whilst Hayes come out of it with 0 injuries…
Jokes aside tonight’s game if managed correctly will be great to give some fringe players some much needed minutes.
Would expect some young players given a run out. Gary risks putting out players to get minutes under their belt and who get further injured. With such an important game on Saturday he might have to take some risks.
Agree might be a poorly attended game, I cannot make it myself.
We were never gonna win that game..gary is lauding the fact we are bringing academy players in..but this has to be said, how close are they to this level? Of all I have seen over the last 6yrs only Imran Uche has come close and he isn't playing NLS. Then Jay Hines but now he is on the bench most weeks for Hanworth Villa two leagues below. So although the academy might be marketed as a gateway to NLS, it really isn't. There isn't one player who has come through the academy and played consistently at NLS. Met police for some reason do have a gateway and a number of their players are now in the football league
Lost 3-1 after taking the lead. Against a far more experienced team, think most of us are not surprised about the result.
Next Saturday against Cheshunt becomes vital, they won tonight so the gap narrowed..

Met Police is a very different comparison. They have an Academy which is the final step in a full youth programme, and are able to coach and develop players across a multi-year programme.
Our Academy programme by comparison is first and foremost an educational programme, and only runs for a two year period. We get boys in at Year 11/12/13, as opposed to much earlier which Met Police do. Not to denigrate their success, they have an exceptional track record.

I was surprised by the answer to your second question. I was anticipating around 50-70, so to see 181 turn out was decent all things considered.
I understand an academy player has or is joining a league club soon so that is a major step forward for the Academy. But realistically we are some way from supplying players directly into the First XI on a regular basis. Steve Bates has done a great job in improving the whole profile and ethos of the Academy and I hope the new owners will continue to back future development.

Our youth teams have been completely neglected in recent times we have over 70 teams ranging from all ages… the academy should be working closer with those teams to create a pathway for them to reach the first team.
Best out of all cups. And get on with the relegation fight to get 40 points. We also need to get Leslie a new shed with heating. And Les all weather parking for Christmas.
