Why are some always so happy and content for a promising young player we took a chance on to have joined a club who will no doubt finish above us because of their budget? I know we can't compete financially and I'm sure I'll be called a dinosaur but I'm afraid I just don't really get it.
Coming from a “youngun” you’re not a dinosaur at all, I totally agree, think it’s pretty embarrassing. Don’t know how in any way you can be happy for someone weakening your team and chasing the cash to join a league rival.

Don’t get too attached to players. They are are always going to look after themselves first. The only loyalty is to managers but that has its limits if you are offered more money at a bigger club. Sayers was signed after leaving Woking. Let’s just hope we can get someone better.

Oh absolutely, none of them are ever around long enough to get that attached anyway! I can understand it if someone gets a genuine career changing offer from a good EFL club, but one of your rivals?? Nah.

Such is the flood of money into non league it is now a viable career move for players with less incentive to aim at EFL clubs. If you can get a full time contract at an ambitious club like Dorking or Dagenham plus maybe a bit of coaching or Baller league then you can do reasonably well financially. Some players also get paid roles at companies owned by club Directors. Equally clubs release players they deem surplus to requirements so job security is pretty minimal. There are lots of reasons why players move around. I wonder what the average turnover of players is at our level at each club each season? How many stay at the same club for more than a couple of seasons?

Sayers was ok but i am surprised Dorking have come in for him. I didn't think he was strong enough in the air to be a CB and isn't a natural full back though is decent enough there. i wish him well.,

I didn't see him play. Is he a strong commanding CB who wins his headers?

During his short stint with us, I thought he had a really solid presence. The fact he immediately got a deal with Worthing says a lot.
