With John Still appointed Head of Football. Must be a lot of money up for grabs over in Essex.

Apparently the chairman needs to cut their player budget for next season so may not be the most attractive gig in town for the next manager. Scott Davies being heavily linked by fans. George Elokobi recently departed Maidstone could be another possibility.

Another team having to cut costs. Maidstone have been in takeover talks for some time.

Scott Rendell appointed as permanent AFC Totton manager. He had been in a caretaker manager role since the departure of Jimmy Ball.

Slough fans pretty despondent if Scott Davies takes the Aldershot job. A very risky move for him. Aldershot runs through managers at a rate of knots and with a smaller budget than this season, a high risk of relegation, the sack or both. Against this how much backing could he get at Slough . It's been a poor end to their season and a squad overhaul is on the cards. Davies is highly regarded and there may be better opportunities for him rather than Aldershot.

He'd be mad to go to Aldershot. I'm not saying Slough are a better option but I doubt if he made the move he'd still be there by Christmas.

I don't think the scenario is too dissimilar between the 2. Would be a low budget side shoe-strung together. My main question is actually more to do with the playing side. Admittedly Slough haven't had much to play for recently, but they are on a dreadful run which has coincided with Davies not being on the pitch and on the sidelines. He couldn't play at National League level anymore meaning he would be the full-time manager most games.
Is his being on the sidelines currently impeding the other coaches that help him on the sidelines, and would that cause more harm at a club like Aldershot when he is on the touchline more?

He's a very motivating man and is the face of the operation. Is he truly the genius behind it all, I'm not so sure. It would be a big call for the shots to go with someone who is still relatively untested. But if looking at his success rate with Slough, it would be a well-earned move for the Slough team. Speaking to a fan earlier today he'd prefer a Neal Ardley type character, with knowhow and experience, but he reckons that the budget, which is reportedly being cut would need to increase for another big name to come in, hence Scott Davies would make sense.

Whatever the budget at Aldershot, the expectations will still be too high for almost any manager coming in.

Sounds like a clear out of players at Aldershot. I would imagine Dowse will be getting calls.
