Dowse reveals that Luis is on an 18 month deal which adds up with the whispers about us moving to a hybrid set up next season too.

I could only understand Louis joining us in return for a decent contract. I imagine he will be full time as he was at Eastleigh. Clearly a decision has been made to up the budget to get out of the relegation battle and then have a squad for next season capable of doing more than just surviving. Great news in one sense but if we go down then big 18 month contracts are going to be an albatros round our necks. Quite why larger funds were not made available to Alan Julian at the start of the season I don't know, but the apparent change in strategy is welcome. Dropping down to tier 3 isn't a disaster but getting back is no easy task so I would say do everything you can within reason to stay at this level. All our relegation rivals will be thinking the same so we must aim to accelerate away now and not leave it to the last few games where you have no room for error.

I can't imagine Dowse will be planning to leave it to the last few games to aim to accelerate away. In fact I suspect he might have been trying to do that since the day he arrived!

If that's definitely the case (regarding the budget being significantly increased) then I feel really sorry for Jules. The players Dowson has got in are much more experienced and there would be something wrong if there wasn't an upturn in our fortunes.

Well of course he did. The point I am making is that we need the wins now to give a bit of a cushion rather than needing to win, say, the last three out of the last four games. He has transformed the team but we can't afford too much of a bedding-in period. Too many teams say there are plenty of points left to win but then run out of road.
