THOSE WERE THE DAYS

26th October 2019

National (Vanarama) League; South

Hungerford Town 0 HRBFC 2 (Wassmer 18’, Orsi-Dadomo 82’) Att; 268

HRBFC;-
Dan Lincoln; Matt Young, Kyron Farrell, Dean Inman, Charlie Wassmer, Ruaridh Donaldson, Sam Deadfield, Jake Gray, Danilo Orsi-Dadomo (Tyrone Lewthwaite, 84’), Jefferson Louis (Ryan Hill, 70’), Louis Soares (Sam Cox, 68’).
Unuse Subs; Shaun McAuley, Jack Skinner.

A good performance with Hampton gaining their third win in a row. The opening half was a one-sided affair, the only surprise was that the Beavers only led by one goal at the interval. The only goal came in the 18th minute, after yet another Hampton attack, Gray had two shots in succession, the second was pushed away for a corner by keeper, Adam Sitiver. Deadfield whipped in the resulting corner, Wassmer climbed high above a defender and scored with a thumping header. Orsi-Dadomo had the ball in the net in the 41st minute but the goal was ruled offside (well he was standing between the keeper and the goal-line!). Hungerford tried their best to get going in the second half but Hampton’s back-line were determined to clock up another clean sheet. Lincoln, only had one real chance to deal with, but he closed down the angle on Zidan Akers and Young tidied up and the chance was gone. With less that ten minutes to go Hampton got the vital second. Hill’s free-kick seemed to heading into the top corner, however Sitiver tipped the ball onto the crossbar, Orsi-Dadomo, ever the predator, was onto the ball in a flash, 2-0 and the points, safe.
2019/20 is only a few years ago, but it seems a lifetime away what with Covid calling a halt in March 2020. Of those players on display only Deadfield is with the club – and he is a returnee. BTW, has Jefferson Louis retired yet, just asking for a friend.

Louis retired in June and is now assistant first team coach at Slough.
