Folkestone Invicta came to Beveree some twenty places below the Beavers, however, for the first hour no-one could have guessed. Even having John Guest sent off just before half-time (a deliberate handball just outside the box) the visitors were looking comfortable. It was no real surprise that Invicta took the lead when, in the 50th minute, Stuart Myall headed them ahead. Fontana came on as a substitute and had an immediate effect on the game. Fontana had a goal disallowed for a debatable offside, but then Harper made a run down the right and fired in from an almost impossible angle. Fontana set up Henry-Hayden for Hampton’s second goal and then got on to the scoresheet himself. With no time left Fontana bundled the ball in after some disorganisation in the Folkestone defence. Hampton extended a club record of seven wins, including a cup win (the run came to an end at Fisher Athletic in the next game.
