THOSE WERE THE DAYS

The arrival of Bennetts and Gorman, brought in for the previous match at Boreham Wood to bolster injury-hit Hampton, was still not enough to prevent a fourth consecutive league defeat. The injury problems were exacerbated even before the game kicked off when Edwards broke down in the warm-up and was replaced by Jolly. The first ever visit to Hayes for a league game was not going well. Hayes cruised into a two-goal lead through Jamie Jarvis, after eleven minutes, and then, Mark Molesley, two minutes into the second half. Riddell did set up Bennetts for his first goal for the club to give them some hope, but a late attempt by Inns that was cleared off the line consigned Hampton to another defeat at the bottom of the table. Interestingly it could all have been different if Hampton still had the services of Darren Powell, Ashley Sestanovich, Leroy Griffiths, Gary Holloway, Dean Green, Ronnie Girvan, Rafael Nade, Nick Burton and Che Stadhart – all playing at a higher level!
