Basingstoke launched n aerial assault but Burton, Walker and Mputu held firm. Maskell and Rouco went close but it was the visitors who scored in the 52nd minute. Tim Sills heading in a far post corner. Five minutes later, Forey went close with a header. Hampton restored their lead in the 69th minute thanks to 19 year old Rouco, making his first full start. The youngster nipped in between two defenders to head in a cross from Carter. The visitors almost salvaged a point through Mancey, but his header slammed against the crossbar.
