Laughable.
Just imagine being a club "dependent on funders who will eventually tire of putting cash". In April, the club released an announcement seeming to indicate we were desperately looking for new funders and clearly this season we are running on a budget way below that of last season. Also, according to my calculations, average attendance figures at the Bev for the first 7 games this season are about 18% below last season (or was it that last season's attendance numbers were not reliable...) In any event, it doesn't appear that clear that we have been following a "solid business strategy"- although maybe finally now we are starting to learn to live within our means.
Maybe one of the aspirational pitchside signs at the Bev should have been "Be Self-Aware"...
(On which subject, we are now a third of the way through the season and have still not managed to get any pitchside advertising in place - this after clearing out all the previous pitchside advertising at the start of last season)

Football is full of charlatans – but don’t lose hope. The ecosystem is crawling with self-proclaimed “experts” who are really just out for a payday or to boost their cool factor. From brokers and agents to would-be investors, most of them are more obsessed fans than actual pros. And honestly, that fanaticism clouds any sense they might have had!
Too many leagues and clubs are overrun by these dinosaurs who block progress while preaching “financial wisdom.” Irony? After 4+ years in the game, I’m still optimistic. There’s room for real change—especially when we stop mixing fandom with business. Without a solid business strategy and strong community engagement, clubs' futures hang by a thread, dependent on funders who will eventually tire of putting cash.
Plot twist: I’m not a football fanatic so maybe my job is to start calling out these clowns, stay tuned! At least at Hampton & Richmond FC, the value is real—1,600 people showing up to a 6th division match. We didn’t win on Saturday, but we sure made a lot of people smile!

I think Scott Forbes has been to another home game recently. Don’t think the brothers were there again. Dowse is often around, lives locally and watches a lot of games.
