Hampton & Bath started the game locked together on ten points, but by the end of the 90 minutes, Hampton had recorded their first win in three weeks. Bath kept Hampton in their own half at the start but then the Beavers scored two well-crafted goals in the 23rd and 29th minutes. Lake and Hodges worked a position down the left side, Hodges appeared to lose possession but regained control and slipped the ball inside for Tanner who crashed the ball past Bath keeper, Paul Evans. The second goal came six minutes later thanks to the pace of Yaku who, in attempting to pass to a colleague, managed to find a defender, the ball rebounded back to Yaks – an unintended one-two – and he was able to side-foot the ball home from a yard out. Shortly after Harper went down heavily and was taken off with a suspected chest injury. The old adage that a 2-0 lead is never enough looked to be holding true when Bath got themselves back in the game with a disputed 52nd minute goal by Paul Cochlin – following protests both Lovett and Hodges were booked. Things became a little ‘heated’, and there then followed the sight of Referee Powell sending off a player, Matt Coupe, who had been substituted some twelve minutes earlier! Lovett made saves from Lewis Hogg, Jeffrey cleared an effort of the line before Hampton’s third, and the decisive goal came when Lake’s drive deflected horribly off Chris Holland.
