Re Hayden Bird, he hasn’t managed this level and he has only had limited success but his teams play very attractive football. K’s were excellent to watch a couple of years ago, remember watching then play Woking off the park in the FA Cup a couple of years ago .

Hayden Bird is available, having just left Leatherhead.

The brothers seem to have setup some new companies recently. Richmond Brands Limited, Rogue Brand Ventures Limited and Aghori Ventures Limited. Maybe they are also on the way out.

Given the current uncertainties, we could be losing some of our “better” players to other more settled outfits!

He was sacked for failing to achieve promotion at a level two divisions below us. Maybe not the profile we are looking for .

I’m surprised no one has heard anything about Mel’s departure perhaps via the players or groundstaff. The more i think the more i sense Mel walked because the brothers couldn’t deliver on their part. It could be a tough time for us if we indeed have to go “cold turkey” if the funding is no longer there etc. On the other hand the brothers talk so much nonsense no one actually truly believed anything they said. God knows who would take the reins and try and get the old volunteer infrastructure back in place. Or i could be wrong and we will be in the EFL in a few years time with the brothers proving everyone wrong!!

Inevitably the reasons will seep out into public knowledge as footballers all talk to each other and some of the squad may at some point break ranks. Uncontracted players will move on to other clubs if they feel there is too much uncertainty or they feel that they won’t be part of a new manager’s plans. Pretty certain that our players will be getting approaches now or will be looking for an escape route as an insurance policy. We would all do the same in the circumstances. Club officials will have to tow the party line. Again you would not expect them to do anything else as their jobs could be at risk if they break confidences.

So in fact the club is on a terrible situation at the moment. No manager. Some players maybe getting ready to leave. Questions about financing for next season. Brothers nowhere to be seen. Investors in short supply. Looks like a recipe for relegation next season!

Well, that's one extreme take on the situation. The other extreme might be that the "strategic partner" announcement was simply activating stage 2 of a long-term financing plan that perhaps was always envisaged (on the basis that the original investors might not have an appetite to increase their individual investments significantly over their original one) and also that Mel has been offered a new role elsewhere that he has decided to take and the club is doing all it can to get a suitable replacement in as quickly as possible. So one thing may have been part of the plan and one thing unavoidable.

Probably the actual reality is somewhere in between the two extremes. It would be nice to have a bit more clarity from the club though.

The owners could be away on holiday - take a break now and start planning when they are back.

And does anyone know when Mel's contract was up to. If it was June 30th then we may not get an appointment until July 1st.

Nine pages of speculation so far on this topic. If Mel left for another job (the Dowse exit) then I am sure our press release would have said as much. 99% of the time Managers leave for two reasons, results or money.
