Hampton were resolute in earning an excellent point at third placed Grays Athletic. No goals at half time thanks to excellent saves from MacKenzie and Athletic’s Mel Capleton. Hampton took the lead in the 52nd minute, Omonua starting off the move, Nade, O’Connor and Deegan all played a part before O’Connor received the ball back, scoring with a crisp shot. Grays equalised in the 83rd minute, much to everyone’s surprise. Substitute Alex Fiddes the scorer when he stole in to flick Gary Fletcher’s pass over MacKenzie into the Hampton net. Maskell and Deegan both had chances to seal a win, but in the end were quite content with the draw.
