Hampton hit back to earn a replay against a full-strength GM Vauxhall Conference side Wealdstone in a Middlesex Senior Cup tie on a Tuesday night at Beveree. Wealdstone scored through Robin Wainwright in the 18th minute, his low drive going through a ruck of players. Five minutes later Smith outpaced the visitors defence to fire past Bob Iles. In the second half, shortly after Duncalf had hit the woodwork, Mark Graves volleyed in from six yards which seemed to have given Wealdstone the win. However, almost from the re-start Duncalf broke down the left, crossed in and Smith scored his second with a rising shot into the roof of the net.
The replay took place the following Monday with Wealdstone taking the tie 4-2 after several Hampton players had failed to arrive at Lower Mead.
