THOSE WERE THE DAYS
August 16th 1997
Isthmian League (ICIS) Division 1
Uxbridge 1 Hampton 2 Att; 75
Pearce 2

Mark Russell; Warren Drew, Danny Collyer, Bradley Pratt, Paul Ford (Lyndon Buckwell), Dave Rattue, Craig Reilly, Mark Biggins, John Roberts, David Pearce (Shaun Mitchell), Peter Wood.

Hampton made light of going into this opening league game of the season with a number of players out through injury plus suspensions carried over from the previous season. They were also fortunate that Russell didn’t get sent off in the 20th minute after lashing out, following a foul on him, even more fortune came Hampton’s way when ex-Beaver Mark Gill lashed the resulting penalty, high, wide and not very handsome. Pearce, signed from Sutton United, made his presence felt giving Hampton the lead shortly after. Uxbridge levelled in the second half but Pearce was on target again with a late winner.
