2-0 at HT Seymour and Dunne. Home team have hit the woodwork twice and created a few good chances, as have we. Understand Bloomfield has a slight muscle strain. We seem to be playing 4-3-3. Hall looks a class player.

The starting line up was indeed closer to an expected league opening XI minus the injured Gray and Bloomfield. No sign of Cheadle today so not sure if that is another injury so we lined up with four at the back. It was a bright opening with Seymour opening his account with a neat finish from Thomas’ cut back after 7 mins. Dunne added a second with a crisp finish from the edge of the area from a corner. Thereafter Beaconsfield worked themselves slowly got into the game and should have scored but for the post and Julian tipping a shot onto the bar. We also came close with a number of efforts. After 60 mins there were wholesale changes with just Julian and Kurran- Browne from the recognised squad left on. A number of trialists, fringe squad and Academy players inevitably led to a rather disjointed performance. Not sure anyone stood out but difficult in the circumstances. Beaconsfield were very much more together and pulled a goal back from a soft penalty probably influenced by the ref missing a goal that came back out from the stanchion a few minutes before. Finished 2-1. So what did we learn from today? We might need a third recognised striker if Bloomfield is not available or proves injury prone. Seymour looks very lively but is not a target man and could find it tough against some of the bigger NLS defences. Second, we did look a bit open to the counter attack and conceded a lot of chances that better teams will exploit so we need to counter that in midfield. Thirdly, Hall may be the key to a lot of assists this season and the link up with Seymour could be very exciting.

Do we know who the second halfers were?

A couple of names mentioned but not sure if the club would want them revealed. Then there seemed to be flood of players some of whom quite likely won’t be seen again. James Comley did come on as well as did one of the Academy lads who played at Met Pol and Pitblado the trialist. Dontaye Whittaker who was with us briefly last season also appeared.

I thought Whittaker had long been consigned to the "where are they now" list. He didn't show anything like enough in his brief appearances last season.

Yes, seemed a bit odd to see him given not included in previous PSFs. Last 20 mins did seem a bit random.

just spotted that Jaiden Drakes-Thomas played for Eastbourne on trial on Saturday which explains why he wasn't at Beaconsfield. Impressed by all accounts.
