July 20th 2004
Pre-Season Friendly
HRBFC 1 Charlton Athletic Reserves 2 Att; 300
Harper

Kieran Drake; Graham Harper, Obinna Ulasi, Dean Wells, Jamie Jarvis, Orlando Jeffrey, Lee O’Leary, Dudley Gardner, Michael Currie, Richard O’Connor, Andy Morley
Subs (all used); Alan Inns, Craig Lewington, Matt Pollard, Matt Elverson, Matt Glynn, Sam Okafor, Rob Paris, Tom Crossland, Marcello Fernandes, Jeremy Jones, Abbi Suboyce, Adrian Allen.

HRBFC Manager, Alan Devonshire made sure that as many players as possible got a run-out against Charlton’s Reserves. The Beavers ended the first half a goal to the good. In the 39th minute a crisp move down the right flank saw Currie whipping over an accurate cross that was powerfully headed home by Graham Harper. The second half saw a completely different team sent out. James Walker scored Charlton’s equaliser in the 59th minute, then in the 77th minute, Stacey Long hit a low drive through a crowd of players. Crossland was robbed by keeper Paul Rachukba and Allen hit a storming drive over the visitor’s cross bar as Charlton held on to the win.

Good squad that. Dev's early days. Even just the subs would have made a competent first team that probably would have held its own in the league.
