Not happening till next season.

Below was from the fortnightly email sent out by the club...

Pitch Perfect

"The Club is pleased to announce that pitch works are commencing for the 23/24 season. The club is investing to renovate the grass pitch at The Bev for the first time in years with the grass set to be ready for the new season.

This is part of a long term investment in the pitch at the Bev that will see a new 3G pitch, LED floodlights and further infrastructure installed for the 2024/2025 season.

After obtaining the first set of permissions from the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, the Club board has worked side by side with local authorities to go through the remaining and required administrative steps to deploy a new 3G pitch and associated infrastructure that will bring more opportunities for use of the Bev pitch for the Club, the fans and our partners in the local community.

It’s a very exciting period for The Beavers and we look forward to the new season with Mel and the team ready to meet on July 1st for the start of pre-season. We will provide further updates throughout the coming weeks and would like to thank the Richmond Council for all the support given thus far."

Fits with a conversation I had with a former long standing club official this morning who had been contacted by a fellow NLS Chairman. Said chairman lives locally and had popped in to the Beveree this morning to find a couple of chaps working on the pitch with the remit of 'getting it ready' for the 5th August. Going to be a big task as it's less than 7 weeks to the start of the season and the pitch has been left to it's own devices since April. Might be that still need a couple of away games at the start of the season.

From reading the statement it would appear that delays in trying to get approval for the extra changes to the ground have caused the pitch and floodlights to move back 12 months.

Think many of us, given the timescale knew it would be tight. Hopefully our owners will give us a more detailed explanation. It might be interesting to know what the investors think of the delay and its changes to the overall plan?
