We are bottom of the form league, Havant 11th. We haven't beaten them for some time so realistically not expecting too much from this game points-wise except a good response to the new manager and an indication that he can install a better pattern play and tactics. Whilst it is hard to criticise our effort under Gary McCann, we seemed one dimensional tactically hitting the ball forward too early which usually resulted in possession being conceded. When we have played well there has been a tendency to make basic mistakes that undoes any good work. Mel has been brought in in part because of his coaching and organisational experience so we will all be looking to see if there is a clear change in how we play and if the players are taking things onboard. He might have wanted an easier place than Havant for his managerial debut but that's no reason for supporters not to expect some indication of what a Mel Gwinnett team might look like.

Our hosts are going through a period of squad changes as Doswell reshapes his squad. It might be that the playoffs are their most realistic chance of promotion given the strong showing of Ebbsfleet and Dartford.
As has been pointed out, Mel has a lot of work to prevent the possible entry into the relegation zone from becoming a reality come April.
Today will be difficult and even more vital will be to avoid defeat at Weymouth in the midweek. Think all of us would feel more comfortable if the squad picked up a few players of the right standard.
