THOSE WERE THE DAYS
5th February 2002

Isthmian (Ryman) League; Premier Division

HRBFC 6 (O’Connor 21’, Flitter 53’, Marsh 69’, Deegan 80’, Maskell 83’, Nade 85’) Croydon 0 Att; 140

HRBFC;-
Stuart MacKenzie; Richard O’Connor (Marvyn Watson,72’), Ronnie Girvan, Phil Dicker (Tony Houghton, 72’), Matt Flitter, Fiston Manuella, Gavin Rose, Darren Deegan, Adam Marsh (Raphael Nade, 72’), Craig Maskell, Steve Omonua.

Croydon;-
Matt Martin; Tony Chin, Mark Crome, Mark Dickinson, Ali Reeve, Graham Harper, Chris Dickson, Barry Kingsford, Dominic Barclay, Craig Dundas, Peter Garland.
Subs; Andre Domingo, Sebastian Favata, Ryan Hill.

A match between two struggling teams ended in a six-goal thrashing of Croydon, giving the Beavers a boost before their F A Trophy trip to Hereford United. The first 45 minutes gave very little clue ff what was to come. Hampton had just a single goal to their credit at half-time. In the 21st minute Maskell played a neat ball to O’Connor who outpaced the defence to hammer the ball past Matt Martin. Eight minutes into the second half, Flitter popped up at the far post to steer Hampton into a 2-0 lead. Marsh, on a month’s loan from Darlington scored on his debut in the 69th minute. In the last ten minutes Croydon, collapsed. A Nade shot was parried by Martin, Deegan following in to score; Maskell made it 5-0 with a delightful shot and finally Nade burst through, again, Martin out of position was hopelessly beaten, 6-0. Hampton clung on to their Premier Division status at the end of the season whilst Croydon were relegated. Two seasons later Croydon’s Graham Harper would sign for Alan Devonshire’s Beavers. Craig Dundas would also have spells with Hampton.

I think so, he has played for a lot of teams. He must be in his 40s now.

Strangely it seems Adam Marsh never played any more football at senior level after that season.
Released by Darlington in 2002, he never seemed to play for anyone else.

I have a very vague memory that he may have played for someone up north after us but for the life of me I can't remember who. Probably a north eastern side.
