Terrific win against a good side. As poor as we were last week we were a different side today. All the loanees fitted in well and and how great to see us taking our chances. Made a decent side look ordinary at times. Well done all.

Curious game where Ebbsfleet were on top for most of the time, even with 10 men, but we capitalised on a couple of defensive errors to go in 2-0 at half time. The sending off early in the second half led to Ebbsfleet dominating play and some last ditch defending before Farrell’s freekick secured the game late on. Another injury this time Cox going off at half time. The midfield weakness still evident but new players did well enough given limited time to adapt. We were better than at Tonbridge and the result should restore some confidence.

Fantastic win, Wassmer and Donaldson were outstanding. Enbsfleet have very good players and will be up there at the end of the season

One of the great aspects of sport is it’s uncertainty as to the outcome. Ebbsfleet arrived with a substantial squad, full time players, a big budget and expectation of a successful season. They are hosted by us with a injury list almost a full team in size, part time players, a smaller budget and three young players brought in to field a team. Wonder what the odds were at the start?
There were times that we looked under great pressure but one thing we do have is a strong spirit and a togetherness and that helped carry us through. Two quick goals and no doubt contrasting half time team talks! Our visitors then compounded their problems with a sending off and whist they continued to press there was now increasing level of desperation in their game. A fantastic free kick was the icing on the cake for a well deserved and perhaps slightly unexpected win .
Thought the two young players who were in the starting lineup, did well as the game progressed and filled in some of the problem positions.

Get used to it… I’ll be doing a fair bit of the coverage this season. Unless you want to have a turn… and there’ll be snow on a tropical island before we ever see that.

You just don’t like my accent, let’s face it…
