A very physical contest ensued as the Beavers visited Arlesey Town in this F A Trophy contest. Both teams went at it, hammer and tong. The officials failed to control the game from the start which meant both sets of players took full advantage. It all ‘kicked off, in the final 15 minutes. Jarvis and Matt Corbould were booked when both should have ‘walked’; Currie was clearly pulled back in the area; Morley, in attempting to reach the ball, got caught up with a defender, and the keeper, Martyn Patching, Matt Corbould waded in, punching; Jarvis ran twenty yards to ‘protect’ Morley, result two yellows, instead of two reds; a few minutes later Jarvis went up for a header, a home player tumbled over, second caution for Jarvis, Hampton down to ten men for the last ten! Oh, yes, the game, itself. In the 8th minute a clearance hit Currie in the face, he shrugged off the discomfort and nipped past momentarily stationary defenders to score. Hampton’s keeper, Blake, came under tremendous pressure, especially during the second half, often having to come through a crowd of players to punch the ball away, catching was not an option. The home side equalised in the 56th minute with a header from Richard Pringle. So, when the dust had settled it was all back to Beveree, three days later, for a hopefully quieter game with the Beavers progressing through. Yes, well, never mind. Expect an update in three days!
