I can't remember which forum user on here updates the 'FootballWebPages' website for Hampton, but just to let you know Archy Taylor and Mauro Vilhete's squad numbers are the wrong way around on there (Taylor listed as #20, Vilhete listed as #19). Also Spennymoor's second goal was given as 80th minute on Hampton's Twitter/X feed and in Spennymoor's match report so I've recorded 80th minute rather than 81st as stated. Spennymoor's Aidan Rutledge also picked up a booking in the 90th minute. Many thanks

Farnborough was actually worse in my opinion but today was all the more disappointing given the importance of the game and that we can be so much better. The crowd was flat having little to get enthused about. Will be interesting to see if Julian is asked about team selection in the post match comments.

Just posted and no, no question about selection.
That's the trouble with in-house media interviews. Rarely will you get a controversial question. Just the "how do you think the game went" type vanilla ones.

Having seen Ange Postecoglou making himself looking an absolute idiot in interviews in the last few weeks I can see why this is the case although I think our manager has a few more brain cells and could handle more tricky questions. Whether the Charlatan Brothers could handle our media team asking more searching questions is another matter of course.

Exactly this. No-one would be asking Jules to go into justification mode about team selection, I'm sure he'd be comfortable with answering a straightforward question like "So, a few changes today then Alan? Any reason?"

I suppose Alan’s answer may have been something on the lines of “We just wanted to freshen things up a bit.”
Or…..
He may have said,”I told the squad that every fit squad member would get a start over the Dorking and Spen games and when Dorking was postponed I decided to keep to the lineup I’d pencilled in for the Trophy game.”

It’s also a question of fan engagement. We hear virtually nothing about why certain players have left or are not playing. Injury status is a complete blank. French, Critchlow, Hagan, Gray? Page plays for 30 minutes at Chesham six weeks ago and then disappears until starting on Saturday. I get that the club wants to control news management but when you get a puzzling team selection and bad performance like Saturday then it works to the club’s disadvantage as there is none of the possible mitigation that could help fans understand the reasons. Instead we will form our own conclusions and the club loses control of the narrative.

Does anyone think that “Jules” may read these posts and feel obliged to respond to fans’ concerns?

It seems the club have less media resources this season. However, I think those resources could be used in a better way. At least we don't have the SAS medic talking about himself this season.

Jules may not feel obliged to respond to the fans questions but that is no way to go about keeping the the fans on board before they start their online chats or voting with their feet!
