Seems very reasonable if as reported their debt to HMRC remains unpaid and they are still subject to a winding up order. It should have been a very short discussion.

If and when the new owners settle that and other debts the situation should change.

Slough have introduced a form of ID verification for fans. "Supporters aged 14–21 will require an IDentiSurge account to attend matches. Away supporters aged 14-21 will also require an IDentiSurge account to access Arbour Park, with one-day passes available for £1.99." Pretty pathetic from my point of view and makes non league even less accessible to young fans.

So, if I have this right, they are demanding that Adults aged between 18 and 21 have to provide additional identification (at an extra cost), and that away fans have to add this charge to the cost of a ticket. Slough may be 'pleased to announce' I doubt if many neutrals or visiting supporters will share their pleasure.

Is there any known reason for this? Youngsters causing trouble at games for instance?

How ridiculous of them. They really don't seem to have thought this through properly at all. I hope anyone under 21 boycotts the away game. Unless they are actively trying to discourage younger away supporters from going there?

It shouldn't take much to discourage people from going to Slough. The best part about Slough away is Windsor!

I see that Rohan Ince is a shareholder in IDENTISURGE the company who provides the facility together with a number of other footballers. There is a growing problem at non league with youngsters causing trouble so I expect that a number of clubs will look at this as a means of exerting some degree on control.

Ebbsfleet painting a bit of a better picture. Will be interesting to see what the league decide come Tuesday. 6 games is a lot to make up. Before any cup postponements or bad weather.

The NL is still looking for a business plan to show that the club is financially viable for the season. From am interview with the representative of the new owners it sounds as if they haven’t yet reviewed the finances so how they come up with a plan I don’t know. Unless they are going to put in a similar amount as the previous owners then big cuts to the player budget seem very likely and I guess players are on contracts so that might not be all that straightforward.

Also allegations in the press that former owner used the club to launder money. All looks very murky if you ask me.

The National League could give the Premier League some lessons in applying financial scrutiny!

The NL were probably the first league to impose financial controls to prevent clubs collapsing. However, I have often heard the view that they don’t press too hard on quality of the business plans submitted so you still see clubs getting into difficulties for the same reasons as they ever did. You have to ask how Ebbsfleet managed to wrack up £15M of debt and consistently lose £1-2m a year yet still meet the NL test. I may be wrong but in the case of Ebbsfleet the NL were prepared to allow the ever increasing loan on the basis that it was subordinated behind all creditors (Torquay was similar) but this doesn’t stop the club being insolvent. The loan provider can still at some point call in the loan even if it means they lose the entire amount.
