yes they did to Gillinghams first team..but you should listen to Dowson's post match interview..if Barzey stays fit I think its a big mistake letting him go and I wouldn't be surprised if a football league side take him

That was the issue though, his fitness. I also think the players we have signed are more than capable of being just as good, if not better.

Should have kept Barzey, maybe a highly incentivised pay as you play deal

That's definitely the only basis on which I would have kept him. He was very good last pre-season as well but ended up missing for weeks at a time. Can look decent on occasion but very little genuine end product, although given how dire we were at times last season maybe if he stays fit he'll look better in a stronger side.

Barzey scored for Dartford v Bromley and according to Dowson post match interview was outstanding yet again..big error letting him go, unless of course he wanted to go..I have no insight

His injury record was poor, perhaps Mel gave up on him? Perhaps he decided to wind his contract down and had other offers being whispered in his ear!
Good luck to him no doubt he will have a “blinder” against us, but we should know what to expect and how to deal with it.

Let's see how fit throughout the season he stays.

Not a former player, but Malcolm Dickenson's son, Brennan has signed for Oldham.

Glad he's got fixed up with another club.
