It would surely have shown incredible naivety if the contractual position were anything other than week to week or something similar.

My second half ramblings:

Rayners Lane scored a third in the 54th minute. Egbert committed to a tackle on Bradley Walsh, failing to dispossess him and with the ball rebounding off him, Walsh squared to Khan who made no mistake from the edge of the area, 3-0 to Rayners Lane and Hampton's time in the Middlesex Senior Cup looked to be coming to an end.

Following the third goal though, Hampton enjoyed three corners in quick succession. Nothing came of the first; Eddie Allsopp played a teasing ball into the six yard area from the second; but from the third corner, in the 58th minute, which was taken short, Liam Hutt found himself in yards of space, slotting the ball across into the danger area where Tyler Andrew-Flower connected, scoring his first goal for the senior team!

Hampton made a double substitution, with Mike Atkinson and Eddie Allsopp being replaced by Tom Maddigan and Archie McKenna respectively, in the 66th minute. Atkinson handed the Captain's armband to O'Keeffe on his way off the pitch. There was a further change, and another first team debut, in the 72nd minute when Tim Salaghishvili replaced Kai Cooper. Later, in the 75th minute, Seve Cushing replaced Tyler Andrew-Flower. For the hosts, meanwhile, Max Holland had replaced scorer Bradley Walsh; then in the 74th minute, Siaka Ardjoum replaced Frankie Bircham.

Rayners Lane Captain Junior Pavia picked up a yellow card in the 72nd minute for a hard, late tackle on Finn McGreevy; he was then sent off for a second yellow just a few minutes later, presumably for something verbal! Just before the sending off, Rayners Lane's goalkeeper was, rather humorously, booked for time wasting over a goal kick. Shortly afterwards, the referee found himself over at the Rayners Lane technical area lecturing their management team. For a short while, it seemed they had collectively lost their heads!

Normal service was resumed a few minutes later though, when Rayners Lane substitute Holland netted a fourth for them in the 81st minute, with a fine solo run and finish with the outside of his boot, after Egberts lost out in a one-on-one battle with him. Travelling fans were shielded from the wind in the second half and the temperature was more bearable. The young squad came over to shake hands with travelling fans after the game.

Thanks for the report, much appreciated..one question, did Atkinson look match fit? We need him on sat to hit the ground running and i don't think he's played much at Salisbury

Atkinson had a solid enough game I think. There were individual errors from other players involved in most of the goals conceded, but Mike seemed steady enough.

Alan in his post match interview states that 35 mins was the plan all along for Ince.

At this rate of progress he should just about be ready for a full game around the end of April.

Bit of a surprise as Chris’ report suggested he was injured. So we should expect to see him involved v Weston on Saturday.

I think I'll still believe it when it happens! And even then it's going to take a few games to fully assess how he is.
