Ramsgate had the best home record. Hampton had the best away record, so the betting was on a draw. However, it was the Beavers that came out on top. The day was bright, the pitch well sanded (Ramsgate beach came to mind). Hampton took the lead in the 14th minute when Paris headed in from a corner. Ramsgate were quick to equalise a few minutes later, a speculative shot from Simon Perrit flew into the top corner. A Ryan Lake corner in the 29th minute was met by Inns for Hampton’s second goal. Ramsgate came back into the game, Lovett making two vital saves just before half time. The third Hampton goal came five minutes into the second half, a Ryan Lake corner was headed into the air by a defender, Elverson reacted first and he headed in from twelve yards. Hampton continued to push forward, Hodgers having a good shout for a penalty waved away by Referee Hatzidakis. The game ended with Hampton still pressing as the sun set in the west with no need for floodlights.
