I've been there a couple of times myself, once when they played Hereford on a Saturday in March, April time, and it was freezing, and another time on a midweek in September against Brentford.
Locals seemed very friendly.

Away to Hartlepool wonderful I have a house here and if I recommend somewhere to stay it would be Seaton Carew, cheap B&B, very nice area, and only 25 minutes walk to the ground along the seafront past Tesco Express and turn left,,,,
