THOSE WERE THE DAYS
29th November 2008
Football Conference (Blue Square) South
AFC Wimbledon 1 HRBFC 1 Att; 3366
Wells

Matt Lovett; Graham Harper, Craig Tanner (Shaun McAuley, 8), Orlando Jeffrey, John Scarborough, Dean Wells, Marcello Fernandes, Robbie Kember (Ian Hodges, 64), Ben Wright, Lawrence Yaku (Steve Tyson, 73), Barrie Matthews.
Unused Subs; Ryan Lake, Elliott Braithwaite.

The Beavers continued to hold sway over AFC Wimbledon with a hard-fought draw in front of a big Kingsmeadow crowd. The game was overshadowed by Tanner’s broken leg in the 8th minute, following an untidy challenge on him. The first half was described as ‘dour’, partially due to Tanner’s injury. Resolute defending, led by Scarborough snuffed out any chances in the first 45 minutes. In the 53rd minute ex-Beaver Simon Hatton found the top corner from 30 yards to give the Dons a chance to get a needed victory to take them to the top of the table. Hampton got themselves back in the game fifteen minutes later when Yaku was hauled down by Andy Little (the referee electing to wave a yellow card instead of a red one), from the resulting free-kick, Wells headed in the equaliser.
