THOSE WERE THE DAYS
August 28th 1973
Isthmian League (Rothmans) Division 2
Southall 0 Hampton 5
Eales 3 Baptie 2
Chris Page; Alan Earl, Ken Reed, Steve Markham, Peter Minor, Brian Crandley, Micky Cook, Ted Yorke, Johnny Eales, Phil Sperling, Jim Baptie.
A commanding performance by Hampton in only their second ever game in the Isthmian League and they had the game won by half time. On the half hour a long kick by Page was picked up by Baptie who volleyed home the opener. Eales scored the second just before half time. Southall’s keeper, Worley, injured in the first half was replaced by centre-half Williams at the start of the second. Hampton took full advantage, Eales adding two more goals, one, a shot into the top corner, the other a close-range header. Baptie seized onto a Cook through ball to complete the rout.
Chris Page, 1972/73 to 1973/74 & 1977/78, 73 apps, whose long clearance started the rout
