Haughney possible new manager under old regime, absolutely no chance with current owners
Why?
Over qualified?
Because it sounded very much like they had been liaising with Paul Tisdale right from before they took over and Mel Gwynett was who he recommended.
As a result he always going to be their first choice. Was always just a matter of time before McCann went too.
If anyone is watching the new BBC3 series, Boot Dreams, about players trying to get back into the pro ranks, two ex Beavers are included. Myles Bowman (GK) and Jake Flanningan (DF) who were both briefly on loan with us. From what I can see none of the players have made it to even Step 2 at non league ( spoiler) following the programme but gives some interesting insight the issues that some players face after the disappoint of being let go by pro clubs.
Four goals from ex-Beavers in Kingstonian 2 - 3 Carshalton today. Double for Eddie Dsane for Ks, and goals each for Destiny Oladipo and Danny Bassett for Carshalton.

I don't think it was ever a plan for Mel to be 1st Team Manager / Head Coach, whatever you want to call it. He was brought in to be above that role and do the overall structure, then moved into the role he is in now after McCann was sacked.
Don’t think that’s quite right. McCann departed before Mel was appointed. We also interviewed other candidates but suspect Mel was always favourite. The wider responsibility for developing the footballing side hasn’t had much mention recently. It would be an interesting question as to whether he could retain the wider role without being first team manager.
