Doesn't the club learn anything from season to season. If we don't score goals it doesn't matter how good the defence is we will only be see a run of 0-0 draws. For heaven's sake spend some cash on a proven goalscorer so at least we might win some of our matches, home or away!
Mason Bloomfield consistently played in the league above and scored 11 goals in 21 games in this league last season, id say thats a proven goal scorer.

Ben Seymour 37 games and 20 goals, again another player who knows how to put the ball in the back of the net. Yet you are still complaining?

We complained that Clifton didn’t score enough and wanted players who score goals and now we have 2 strikers who know how to score goals and have proven it before yet we still find away to complain… this time about the lack of influence they have in the build up.

I’m sorry but we have such a pessimistic and quite frankly ungrateful fanbase. A player who drops deep, links up play and scores 20 goals a season is very hard to find at this level, so unless you have a budget of a league 2 club then you are not getting a striker who can do all that… hence we have two different strikers, a quick small pacy poacher in Seymour and a tall more technically gifted striker in Bloomfield.

If anything this pre season has been a success, we complain about lack of depth and players not being ready when called upon or at the level required so Mel has made sure everyone has played in pre season so that they are ready when need be. We have lost 0 games in pre season and have had 9 different goal scorers, I am someone who would rather the goals are shared between 4-5 players than just have 1-2 players who score. Anyway no matter what happens in pre season people on this forum will always find a way to complain, win all our games 5-0 and the opposition aren’t good enough, play the same 11 each game and it will be why has he signed so and so if he doesn’t even give them a chance in pre season. There really is no winning is there.

What exactly is the fanbase supposed to be grateful for? They devote lots of time and money to the club cause yet seem to be regarded as an inconvenience by the owners. As for the pessimism you mention, over the years, Hampton fans have always been remarkably upbeat and tolerant of the management. Have a look at some of the other fans' forums.

Fans scream for goals and we sign two high level strikers who score goals and the fans complain, we lose no games in pre season and fans complains.

Also the fans are not seen as an inconvenience to the owners, they have done lots of good things to increase crowds and even fans from other clubs have commented on how much they enjoyed their day when visiting the Bev. It is unfortunate how the staff situation was dealt with but not sure there is any need for such a generalised comment that fans are an inconvenience to them, that’s just a silly thing to say and obviously not true.

The highlighted bit is pretty much exactly my take on our attacking options and the pre-season. I'm optimistic looking ahead. Seven away games is a very tough start, but it's also an opportunity - long road trips can really bring a squad together, and I'm sure that the management team will be looking at how they can best make use of that time together.

To be fair, only a couple of (predictable) moans about goal scorers. There is clearly a lot of hope and expectation riding on the backs of our new strike force and after a handful of minutes together in pre season it is a reasonable question as to whether Bloomfield and Seymour can deliver. Just as important is whether the rest of the team can create the chances for them to score. That’s why Hall is for me the key player this season. Clearly a very different sort of player to what we have had in the team for a few seasons. If the rest of the team can get on his wavelength then we could do really well. It may also free up Gray and others to show the flair side of their game.

Mr B Master,
How long have you been coming to the Bev? We have been known for years as a very friendly club to visit,
let us hope we remain the same. Maybe something to do with our amazing fans?
