A Middlesex Charity Cup Sem-Final held over from the previous season saw Uxbridge go through to the final. Uxbridge had most of the early chances, Church shooting over the bar, the visitors taking the lead in the 57th minute, Chris Dixon beating Vagg with a low drive. Fifteen minutes Steve Pope scored the second, defensive errors being blamed for both of Uxbridge’s goals. Uxbridge lost to Kingsbury Town in the final a few days later.

They were the days of many more locally based players who would stay with the club for some years. Apart from the obvious ones like Chesh, Dicko and Hollands, Freddie Wilson was a player who mainly played in the reserves but would get a very occasional game in the first team and never let anyone down. Dwight Marshall went on to a decent professional career but Bobby Green had played for the England Amateur side and had been an FA Trophy winner with Sutton a few years previously. He was still a skilful, tricky defender even in the twilight of his career. Ricky Walkes was another talented player, a genuinely awkward handful up front.
Ah, good times.

That's a very good looking Hampton side.
Uxbridge must have had some team if they beat that.

Uxbridge were always tough opponents back then. Don't really remember any of their players except they might have had a young Mark Gill in their side who later joined us. A very decent player.TW3 Beaver wrote: ↑Sun Jul 30, 2023 12:08 am That's a very good looking Hampton side.
