THOSE WERE THE DAYS
April 23rd 1964
Surrey Senior League
Chobham 1 Hampton 0

Joe Andrews; Gerry Biggs, Roger Blackmore, Peter Jennings, Ron King, Don Bevan, Jakie Cooper, Ron Griffin, Johnny Whing, Joe Dowling, Brian Morriss.

On a Thursday night of rain, hail, thunder, lightning and an impossible playing surface, Hampton lost their first away league game of the season (they carried on playing during a thunderstorm, really !!!). Chobham got a goal straight from the kick-off, and that, as they say, was it. Blackmore was injured during the game. Hampton would go on to win a first championship since 1933.

Presume Ron Whing was related to Johnny Whing. Anyone able to add any details?

I saw that game, not a great ground from memory. They did have a couple of decent players if my old memory serves me Jeremy and Moody, think they might have later gone to Chertsey who were one of the strongest team in the league along with Croydon Amateurs at that time.
I might have the program and report when I can get to my archives.
