Interesting logic. We release a player who we think isn't good enough for us but worry that he so much of a threat that he will score against us.
I don't think anyone is particularly disappointed he's gone, it's more a kind of self-fulfilling prophecy that this will happen! I can see him getting one kick all game, making no other significant contribution and it happening to be a goal...
If that happens we could always find someone else but if not, suspect Mel would prefer to play others in preference to Wood anyway. Noticeably he was subbed at half time in a couple of games and others did not start at all. We looked better for it.
Fisher is on loan for the rest of the season. Clifton for a month, although there might be an opportunity to extend?
As for Wood would expect he was on contract, assume it was cancelled by mutual consent. Can’t see us getting any sort of fee .

Isn't there a limit on how many loans per season? We must be very close to that now.

12 isn't it? I heard somewhere the other night we were up to 11...
At the club meeting Mel said we had used up 8 loans out of 12 and we have had 4 since then (.Jenkins counts as two not one) Jenkins, Coulthirst, Clifton and Fisher. May be a couple of the 8 were youth loans so not sure if that gives us any headroom.
A team that is relying on loans is a very poor team. A month's loan gives a player hardly any time to get used to playing in a new team or to show how good he is.
