The Beavers, mid-table in the Isthmian Premier, welcomed Division 1 side Bognor Regis Town for a F A Cup 2nd Qualifying Round match. Bognor, managed by Jack Pearce, were in the lower half of their division, so hopes were high for progress by Hampton. The visitors, patently, had other ideas. Courtnage was forced to concede a corner in the first minute. Worse was to follow when, Neil Scammell, lurking at the far post poked the ball home (timed at 1min 40 secs!). The rest of the half was relatively even. Buglione flicked a shot straight at Colin Matthews, and then on the brink of half-time Carter had the ball in the net but was ruled offside. Hampton equalised in the 54th minute. Forey down the left side sent over a cross that clipped Gardner’s boot and with defenders scrambling, Carter scored from inside the six-yard box. Buglione then missed two good chances without hitting the target. Bognor then tested Courtnage on a couple of occasions but in the end, it was all off to sunny Bognor for a replay three days later.

Aaah Martin Buglione...seldom has a player arrived with such a decent record but delivered so little.

Hi - apologies for the nit-picky query, but I like to get to the bottom of these little discrepancies -
The Richmond Informer article from the time records our goal time as the 55th minute; your article records it as 54th minute; the Isthmian League Bulletin for that week annoyingly doesn't record a goal time ( https://isthmianarchive.co.uk/Isthmian1999.00-7.docx ), just wondering whether 54th minute is from a note taken at the time, or whether it was published somewhere? Many thanks!
