I am not surprised, like us they have had a poor start to the season and have been shipping goals. We have two very tough games coming up, Torquay and Maidstone, and losing both would leave us in big trouble even this early on in the season.

The ground looked great yesterday. Obviously a lot of hard work has been put into that. Hopefully our players will see the benefits of being able to train on the pitch.

As for the game, both sides lacked quality but thought we deserved to get ahead. Shambolic to give away a 2 goal lead though. De Havilland looks to be a liability. Fortunately Luis had a great game despite seeming to be in considerable pain in latter stages. We have some promise on the flanks but a vacuum in midfield apart from Atkinson who is tidy in front of the defence. Good character to come back and take the points.

In all honesty it was surely a bit of a surprise him getting a job at the same level so soon after us letting him go, after such a dismal run last season. I thought he'd eventually end up getting a job somewhere, but maybe in one of the divisions below, not in the same one. It shows how much Slough were prepared to act on the recommendation of their previous manager. I never understand this...football types always recommend their mates. It would be interesting to know if Slough ever seriously considered anyone else.

In all honesty it was surely a bit of a surprise him getting a job at the same level so soon after us letting him go, after such a dismal run last season. I thought he'd eventually end up getting a job somewhere, but maybe in one of the divisions below, not in the same one. It shows how much Slough were prepared to act on the recommendation of their previous manager. I never understand this...football types always recommend their mates. It would be interesting to know if Slough ever seriously considered anyone else.

Agreed although I suspect being a cheap option also had a lot to do with it!

I would also suggest it wasn't a very bright step for Jules to take either. Slough was always going to be a struggle but he runs the risk of being labelled a failure at two NL clubs whereas stepping down a league to a club with a competitive budget at that level would have given him a much better opportunity to build a reputation.

Mind you if he were to succeed at Slough ....

Absolutely true. Sometimes it seems the vast amount of confidence you must surely need to be a successful player can override any real perspective on decision making. I also see from a quick look at some Slough fan comments that they too are fed up with the "plenty of positives to take from that defeat" style of interview response that he does, which also seems to be very much in vogue with an increasing amount of managers now. Of course, clearly managers aren't fans, they aren't going to answer like a fan would, but why on earth do they do this? It does them no favours whatsoever and just becomes a bit of a standing joke. Mel Gwynett was the first one I noticed...all those stony faced interview responses about taking positives, when we'd lost again and it felt like we'd just witnessed a different game!

I don't see him leaving St Albans. Has a strong squad there.
