On a freezing, snowy evening (which may partly explain the paltry crowd) the Beavers notched up their 22nd unbeaten competitive home game in easing their way into the final of the Middlesex Senior Cup. Snow fell during the first half and during the second the temperature dropped (nithering, was the word that night). Fontana gave Hampton the lead in the 13th minute thanks to a superb cross from the right by Allen. Harrow came back to equalise in the 26th minute, courtesy of an own goal by Elverson – trying to head the ball up and away, he only succeeded in heading the ball onwards and into the top corner. Hampton took a winning lead in the 58th minute. Fontana and Allen had attempts to score, eventually the ball came out to Harper, who struck the ball with the outside of his foot and it curled away into the far corner. Harrow’s keeper Keita Karamoto kept Harrow in the game with a flying save from Allen and then getting to a looping shot from Elverson. Hampton survived a nervy six minutes of added time before the frozen supporters could seek some warmth in the Beaver Bar.
