On a searingly hot day, Hampton saw off a lethargic looking Staines outfit. Hampton struck in the 15th minute, Fontana taking the ball down the side and crossed for Morley to fire home from 15 yards. Currie and Fontana forced Staines’s keeper, Matt Lovett, later to play for Hampton, into several saves. Ex-Beavers boss, Steve Cordery was rumoured to have given his players a tongue lashing during the interval, Drake was brought into action to save from another ex-Hampton player (and Coach), Craig Maskell. With time running out, Hampton made sure of the points. Lewington set Nsubuga off on a 40 yard run, his cross being turned in by Allen from just a few yards out.
