THOSE WERE THE DAYS
20th August 1988
Isthmian League (Vauxhall-Opel) Division 1

Worthing 1 Hampton 1 (Cheshire)

Hampton ;-
Chris Vagg; Clive Marich, Simon Edwards, Tim Hollands, Gary Cambridge, Steve Cheshire, Sean O’Connell, Chris Hills, Sean Rice, John Hales (Gary McKechnie), Colin Braithwaite.
Unused Sub; Keith Jones.

Vagg was called into action twice in the opening 15 minutes, from Mark Searle and Pat David. Gradually Hampton worked their way back into the game and took the lead in the 28th minute. O’Connell mad a run down the left side, Cheshire got a shot in but Worthing keeper, Burnham, parried the ball away however, Cheshire followed in and scored from close range – his first goal for the Beavers. Hampton should have scored a second but Braithwaite skied his effort over the bar. Worthing drew level a minute later through Daimian Webber. During the second half, Rice, Hales and O’Connell all had opportunities to win the game, but the points remained shared.
