THOSE WERE THE DAYS

Carshalton had a new manager, Frank Murphy, following their relegation from the Premier Division. Beaver’s manager, Steve Cordery, was a little concerned at the fact that he had never beaten a team managed by Murphy. Both sides managed to eke out chances, Maskell went close in the second half with a swivel and shot that just eluded the far post. O’Connor almost won the game late on with a shot that thudded against the angle of cross bar and upright. Carshalton were denied several times by the athleticism of McKenzie, however, in the second half he was almost beaten to the ball by Youseff Fofanan, but just managed to get down to his left and grab the ball from Fofanan’s feet. Cordery needn’t have worried too much about his record against Murphhy, as the game ended 0-0, both sides agreeing to hold the trophy for six months, each.
