Off on our travels again.
Injuries will pay a significant part in selection. We could have players added to injury list that was getting long last Monday.
Hopefully we might have a couple of fresh faces to fill the vacancies.

A really poor performance from us today even accounting for a number of injuries affecting the squad. No TMR today ( not sure if injured) so Cox and Uche came in as a makeshift midfield and Brown went to right back. Gondoh looked as if he is still some way from full fitness. NoAnderson on the bench so guessing there could have been a parting of the ways after he was left on the bench against Maidstone. Trouble is that we missed Donaldson in a very lightweight midfield so Anderson could have been a worthwhile option. Tonbridge are not a great side but we allowed them to dominate play with upteen corners and freekicks. Had they been any good at finishing they might have won at a canter. Our attacking play barely made an appearance. Passing was poor throughout, pressing non existent and once again we relied heavily on Wassmer, Donaldson and Julian to keep us in the game. So when Fisher scored a screamer of a freekick after 78 mins, I thought the footballing gods were smiling on us. But game management was poor and Tonbridge kept throwing everything at us until the 97minute when they got the goal they deserved. Gondoh managed to get a second yellow despite having been substituted so he will miss a game. Minhas got a run out late on and looked more involved than Slew who barely got a look in. The subs bench looks particularly lacking at the moment and we desperately need the injured to return soon or to recruit some additional bodies.

Well I normally try to be positive these days but even bearing in mind our injury list that was a really poor performance against a side who must be one of the favourites for the drop. Plus, the time wasting at the end was embarrassing and quite frankly we only got what we deserved.
One to forget.

According to Gary, Miller Rodney was unfit, Cole Brown joins him on the injury list. Think most would agree that midfield is not firing correctly as are the forwards. As has been mentioned already we need some players back from injury and perhaps a couple of new players. On current form, mid table is our most likely destination come April.

5 games is probably too early to be calling the outcome of the season but we need to regain the form and confidence of the Eastbourne Borough team given next up is Ebbsfleet at home. They won’t be so forgiving in front of goal as Tonbridge. Depends on who we have fit but I would suggest getting Donaldson back into midfield which may mean Uche partnering Wassmer or Anderson back from the wilderness if not gone already.

Need reinforcements..need to use contacts at National league level and pull in a couple of loans of players who are not getting game time

I think recent results might now have put the Eastbourne game into some kind of context...they had more than one player absent due to Covid and were down to ten men in the first half. Yes we passed the ball around well and took our chances but we definitely had a lot of things go our way that day.
