Re: New season

Many years ago I remember talking with Roy Philpott about this and he said there was a manager at Wembley Town who would think nothing of trying to “tap up” players in a pre season friendly against them. This was in the days of “amateur players”.

Re: New season

Mel’s post Welling match comment was that he already had10/11 very good players but will need 7-10 new recruits which I think is what we would expect. Also said he had budget to bring in 3 or 4 young players for development. Not clear if this in addition to the core squad. The 10/11 existing player...

Re: New season

I'm interested why you dismiss this suggestion out of hand? D'you not agree that this particular player ticks lots of boxes. [/quote] Tony did point out that Moses Emmanuel turned us down at the start of the current season. Knowing Mel it might be that he has other irons in the fire. We shall wait a...

Re: Welling away

Be interested to hear what Mel thought about it. He has given fringe players an opportunity and it would seem they are not what we require if we are to mount any sort of successful campaign in 23/24.
Hopefully a busy summer of recruitment. Will be there on Saturday hoping for a better performance.

I am sure Mel knows this and that we are nowhere good enough at present.

Re: Welling away

Now losing 2-0. We had taken Barzey and Whittaker off again already, doesn’t look like they might be around ?

Re: Welling away

These last two results show how thin the squad is and that the fringe players are not good enough.
Roll on next season!

Welling away

Our final trip of the season. Not sure what type of team we will field this evening. It might be on similar lines to Concord, if so, it might see us lose. It might also give us an insight as to team planning for next season.
